Small and medium-sized businesses
Paccar Canada
Project description
Paccar Canada has implemented a program called “Visez-Santé” (“Aim for Health”) whose goal is to meet the various needs of its employees. The creation of a committee and a “Visez-Santé” logo allowed the company to create a sense of ownership for this program and to promote its benefits to workers. The values communicated by the company aim to encourage employees to adopt healthy lifestyle habits by offering a stimulating work environment to help them attain their goals. In this way, they encouraged employees to make changes to their lifestyle habits while increasing their accountability when it comes to their physical and mental well-being. A nurse was hired and named Health Promotion Coordinator, which led to the organization of 30 different activities, including healthy food tastings, such as smoothies, breads, and sorbets, amongst others. Finally, they published several newsletters all signed “Visez-Santé”.
Teledyne Dalsa
Project description
Teledyne Dalsa offered its employees a program promoting the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits. This company stood out through its originality and its awareness of the varying needs and interests of its employees. In the spring of 2010, a program called “La santé à tout prix” (“Health at all costs”) was implemented and consisted in recognizing employees who participate in various activities, which in turn motivated them to keep on keeping! When employees took part in activities (working out in the gym, walking along a marked path, healthy food tastings, nutrition workshop, playing on a volleyball or hockey team, etc.), they won SANS T (SANTÉ) money. The price of healthy foods in vending machines was reduced and choosing healthy foods from these machines also allowed employees to win more SANS T money, therefore increasing their chances of winning prizes. The keen interest the employees had in activities aimed at promoting heart health led to remarkable participation rates!
Large corporations
Bombardier, centre de finition global
Project description
Throughout the year, Bombardier, Global Completion Centre, organized for its employees several awareness-raising activities encouraging the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits. It all started with a fair entitled “Your resolutions in action”, which gave workers information on the different activities offered, a health assessment clinic, booths, challenges such as “the pedometer challenge” and “Je rentre dans mon pantalon même après avoir mangé du dindon” (“I fit in my pants, even after the turkey fest”). This ongoing program allows employees to gain an awareness of the state of their health, increase their knowledge and adopt healthy habits leading to heart health. Not only have they ensured the longevity of this program, but they also strive to continuously improve their activities.
Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu
Project description
The Cégep St-Jean-sur-Richelieu took advantage of the diversity of the activities it offers its employees. Overall participation and the involvement of a human resources employee truly drove the development of different projects such as “Le tracé des Petits Cœurs”, a marked path covering several kilometres, both indoors and outdoors, “La journée sans mon auto” (“A day without my car”), lunchtime activities and several others. This diversity ensured a very high employee participation rate. Finally, a large-scale survey was conducted and allowed the institution to develop relevant activities that, whenever possible, addressed the needs and expectations of its employees.
We would like to congratulate the winners as well as all the participants for their involvement in the health promotion in their workplace.
